We have just had a visit from Lena & Matt and they stayed with us for three nights. Lena was a Rotary exchange student from Germany and lived with us in Australia about four years ago. Last year they visited us in Australia (see photos) and this year it was great that they could take a side trek out of their round the world trip to spend time with us (photos later when I have time).
There is something very special about relationships that develop out of student exchange and the other youth programs in which we have been involved. In the same week that we were contacted by Lena, our exchange student daughter from Mississippi Candice, contacted us with the great news that she is expecting her second baby. Zoe, one of our RYLA babies contacted us from Singapore airport with an update on her trip to Thailand and Jane, another RYLA baby got in touch to say Hi. Yesterday I received an e-mail from Ashley’s (RYLA) mum saying that she and Ken will be here in HCMC next month and could they catch up?
Friendships such as these run deep and stand the test of time. We loved having Lena & Matt with us and I was sorry to see them go, they are people whom we love.
