Blogging to a Different Tune

Posted 27/04/2003 under blogging tools

Part of the new Windows Media Player 9 Series Fun Pack is the Blogging plug-in. The Blogging plug-in is designed to make it easier for you to add information to your blog entry about the song currently playing on your computer. Posting the name of the song and artist that you’re listening to is a great way to share your mood with your friends, family, and audience.

However, not all blogging tools are supported, which is a pity. However, this is an interesting concept.

invisiblog.com (beta) - anonymous weblog publishing

Posted 27/04/2003 under blogging tools

Invisiblog is for the coy or shy blogger, or maybe for the blogger who wants to say something a bit controversial perhaps.

“invisiblog.com lets you publish a weblog using GPG and the Mixmaster anonymous remailer network. You don’t ever have to reveal your identity - not even to us. You don’t have to trust us, because we’ll never know who you are.”

Project Steve Guttenberg :: That’s With Two T’s

Posted 22/04/2003 under blogging tools

It’s free software, doesn’t require a database and is described as being a no-nonsense lightweight journal system. It’s not meant to be a content management system but rather, it’s meant to fit seamlessly into a pre-existing site (or I would guess, a new site also). You can take a test drive when you visit the site.

Project Steve Guttenberg (PSG) is a PHP-driven diary/journal/blogging application that integrates seamlessly into an existing Web site. It provides many of the core features (including comments, archives, searching, and an RDF feed) and administrative controls (all Web-based) of other, larger systems, but doesn’t use a database, is XHTML 1.0-compliant and its look can be completely customised via CSS. It can easily be scaled to host several journal sites with a single installation.

Diaryland!! online diary - fun, free online diaries you can update through your browser!

Posted 09/03/2003 under blogging tools

Another free, on-line blogging application. Sign up was fairly easy and there are a number of templates to choose from, albeit with very little difference to the format, just different background colours and different fonts for links. The bright cartoon like interface will no doubt appeal to the younger generation and in fact, this system has been used in at least one school. That’s where I got the link from.

Dynaweb

Posted 08/03/2003 under blogging tools

DynaWeb can be used in two different ways basically, its most dynamic usage is using it as a weblog, giving you and your visitors the options to place messages with optionaly a link & picture on your website and also allowing visitors to reply to posted items. Users of the weblog have to be registered. Alternatly you can use it as a quick way to keep your website up to date by switching off the ‘New users registration’ or by limiting their rights to ‘Only reply’ allowing you to post messages to the main board and visitors to reply to them.
