The managing editor of “The Guide”, Mr. Nguyen Tri Man, contacted me recently and asked if some of my stories could be used in upcoming editions of this monthly magazine. It seems that he had surfed to this humble weblog and found my anecdotes worthy of being put into print. “The Guide” is published together with the Vietnam Economic Times and is generally speaking aimed at tourists and the ex-pat community. About 50,000 copies per month are distributed into the major hotels, bars and tourist agencies throughout Viet Nam as well as on international flights and airline offices. It is a quality, glossy, colour publication of about 90 pages full of interesting articles on tourism and ‘what’s on’ around the country.
It is always good for the ego to be told that someone enjoys what you have written, and this offer was no exception. Subsequently my story about “A Medical Experience” was published in the December edition. Hopefully readers of “The Guide” will get some enjoyment out of what I have written and I have been asked to allow further stories to be published.
Isn’t it strange what can emerge out of the activity that is blogging?
