…and my brain was roasting driving the Vespa along the streets. During the build up to the wet season it just gets steaming hot, days that my Dad would call stinkers. However, I have just returned from doing a few errands around the city and there are some places when you drive through them it is possible to feel a cooling breeze and get a bit of shade from either buildings or the trees.
Just as I was driving along the tiny street next to Vuon Chuoi markets I suddenly felt that cool breeze and at the same moment I smelled the most exotic scent of heavily spiced food cooking intermingled with the smells of produce and the sounds coming from the market place and surrounding houses. It was truly a magic moment and one that is so typical of living in this place where you are constantly being subjected to sensory overload. I guess that’s one of the reason why I love it.
